Reported Fault
"When attempting to start kwiklook it won't run, nothing happens!"
Symptoms
- kwiklook runs on the kwiklook Server computer but won't run on Client workstation.
- No response after running kwiklook from desktop shortcut.
- The kwiklook session appears under the Windows Task Manager but does not appear on the desktop.
Cause
- The computer does not have sufficient memory (RAM), is missing a Windows component or does not meet the minimum system requirements.
- Windows Compatibility Assistant has flagged kwiklook as incompatible.
Remedy
- For insufficient memory:
- Add additional memory (RAM) to the computer.
- Re-load Windows on the computer.
- Load the profile kwiklook under Dependency Walker and send the log file to FutureIT for analysis.
- For Windows Compatibility Assistant:
- Click Start > Run.
- Type 'regedit' and press enter.
- In the Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
- Delete all entries that are associated with 'kwiklook.exe' or 'kloader.exe' or 'lcpssi.exe'.
