How to Perform a Manual Restore of kwiklook
From FutureIT Wiki
kwiklook may be restored manually from a restore.
Prerequisites
- A backup of kwiklook must be available in the form of:
- A *.zip file created using kwiklook Backup
- A copy of the FutureIT Directory (containing the kwiklook Directory) and a SQL Server Backup of the kwiklook Database i.e. 'kwiklook.bak'.
Procedure
- Establish a New Instance of kwiklook - A kwiklook Master Setup with Advanced Options (to NOT install SQL 2005 Express) is used to establish directories, create shortcuts, add Registry entries and register ActiveX Controls on the new machine.
- Restore Directories - The contents of the FutureIT directory should be restored. Delete the newly installed files and folders in the FutureIT direcrory and replace with the equivalent backed-up files and folders from the *.zip file. If the location of the FutureIT directory is different to the location on the old machine, do not delete / replace KLNET.INI and kwiklook.ini as these files contain the path names to folders in the directory.
- SQL Server - if a new SQL Server has been established for the kwiklook SQL Database, then it must be configured for kwiklook and the kwiklook Database restored to it.
