Overview

Implementation of a kwiklook solution involves the consultation, installation, commissioning/custom configuration and training of client administrators and operations staff.

Consultation

The client will usually need a one hour consultation in regard to the following issues:

  • Data Import - existing Staff, Service Providers, Locations, Assets and other data may be imported from a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file. The CSV file is created from a Microsoft Excel worksheet by saving the completed worksheet as a "CSV" file type. The CSV file is then imported into kwiklook. The Worksheet templates provided define the exact data that may be imported. These worksheets are located on the kwiklook Distribution CD and in the kwiklook Program directory.
  • A client can complete the worksheets that will be used to import data. A FutureIT consultant perform the import of the data.

Installation

  • The Installation involves running the Full/Server Installation Setup on the designated Server at the customer's premises. The Setup program is run from the Install menu on the kwiklook Distribution CD or can be organised remotely.

Commissioning & Configuration

Once the Installation Setup program has completed the Installation, kwiklook can be Commissioned. A series of Commissioning procedures are provided that identify the steps needed to setup a new customer installation with its own data and configuration settings.

The initial Commissioning procedure is titled Core Commissioning and is available in the Commissioning a New Installation manual. This procedure includes removing the Trial Database from windows, Registering the Installation, setting Options, modifying Lists and adding Staff and User Records.

Once the Core Commissioning procedure is complete, each application module licensed to the Installation may be commissioned and for this refer to the respective Commissioning manual or Help topic. Each of these procedures is specific to an application module. Training

The customer representative who will be responsible or maintain kwiklook is known in kwiklook terms as the Administrator and is usually the first to be trained.

Administrator training provides an overview of the workspace and the way the program is organised. The Administrator needs to know how to maintain the database. This can be done by sitting through the kwiklook Induction and Introduction to Administering kwiklook tutorial.

Operational/Facilities Service Staff will need to sit for the kwiklook Induction and learn all procedures (Actions) for the application modules they will use. The kwiklook Induction is easily accessed via the Help button in the Toolbox.
